About

Welcome to the world of Lou Sheppard, a multidisciplinary artist and educator based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Lou’s practice spans painting, drawing, ceramics, video, audio installation, and performance. With an eye for subtle transformation and an ear attuned to the nuances of place, their work explores ecology, language, and systems of knowledge.

A graduate of the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (2006) and Mount Saint Vincent University (B.Ed., 2013), Lou brings both technical skill and conceptual depth to their interdisciplinary approach. Their projects often draw from scientific research, poetic form, and queer theory, translating complex data into visual, spatial, and sensory experiences.

Lou's work has been exhibited in Canada and internationally, including at the Antarctic Biennale, and they were awarded the Emerging Atlantic Artist Residency Award in 2017. Here you’ll find an evolving archive of their work - a space to reflect, feel, and encounter the unexpected.
